Robyn Crowe
All sessions are facilitated by Robyn Crowe, who is a qualified art therapist, teacher, reiki healer, artist and counsellor.
From the many years teaching creative subjects at all levels of education, Robyn became increasingly aware of the impact of this powerful, alternate way to communicate, express thoughts, emotions and create intuitively through art. She became fascinated in learning more about art as a form of therapy, so began her studies in healing, health and wellbeing. It has created a magical insight into self and the support of others on their own journeys of self awareness and healing.

What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy utilizes various art forms, such as drawing, painting, sculpting, and collage-making, journaling, writing poetry, movement, photography, or the use of clay and craft materials, to help individuals express their emotions, improve their mental and emotional wellbeing.
It is based on the belief that engaging in the creative process through art, can facilitate healing and personal growth.
Awareness
Art therapy can be a powerful tool for increasing self-awareness, fostering positive emotional expression and promoting mindfulness. It guides us to be in the moment and not to live in the past or the future. It can also enhance positive thoughts, feelings of gratitude of self, others and the beautiful world around us.
Wellbeing
Experiencing healing through art can be a therapeutic outlet for wellbeing. Creative expression can reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, enhance self esteem, cognitive awareness as well as interpersonal and social skills
Emotions
Art therapy encourages individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through the creative process, particularly those that may be difficult to put into words. This can help them gain insight into their own emotions and behavior.
Self development
By engaging in the art therapy process, individuals can develop more self awareness of the choices and thought patterns that are impacting on their work, relationships and personal lives.
Testimonials
My Happy Clients!
Sometimes life can be so challenging. I’ve been struggling with a painful life experience and been in a real slump. So I decided to do something different and give art therapy a go.
I didn’t know what to expect. I imagined I’d be playing with clay or paints, which may help me relax and feel a bit better.
When I met Robyn, I was welcomed into a warm and relaxing environment. We sat at a table surrounded by paints, pencils, pastels and an array of bright art materials. It was not your normal counselling space but that was ok as I didn’t want a formal environment.
Robyn explained the art therapy process and we discussed some of my recent challenges. It was good to sit and chat in this comforting space; it reminded me of being in primary school and about to embark on an awesome painting experience.
I explained to Robyn that I wasn’t good at art and she reassured me that’s not what it was about. She actually said, “The messier your art work is, the better!” Ok I thought, this is going to be easy!
As we continued chatting, Robyn suggested I pick some materials to help express my thoughts. Throughout the session, I wrote down key words and drew little symbols as they came up in the discussion. Without knowing it, I had started to highlight some of the things that were important to me in my life.
The session went for an hour and I left feeling really good. I had created some art and at the same time illuminated some options for what I needed.
At my next session, we did some different art exercises to open my heart and mind. Robyn was supportive and gentle in guiding me to get my feelings out on the paper. Her beaming smile was a great motivation and comfort.
As we chatted, I found new ways to express myself with smooth flowing paint and colourful watercolour pencils. Without knowing it, I had discovered some unhelpful thinking patterns that were making my journey harder. The art therapy helped me realise what I needed for my own self care, to start to heal and find joy again. I plan to continue on this journey and keep finding the pieces through art therapy.
